Coffee and friendship group

Great company, lots of fun! Come for morning tea and meet new people.

Meets every Monday 10:30am - 11:30am. Gold coin donation.

 

We host speakers who give talks on a variety of topics every first Monday of the month.

Card making

Card making club
A weekly club for keen greeting card makers who want to meet with others of similar interests, to share ideas and techniques. New members are always welcome.
Mondays 1:00 - 2:30pm during school terms. $4 per week.

Greeting card making course
We run card making courses each school term. The courses are ideal if you're interested in learning more about card making or just want to get started.

Scrabble

Come along and play scrabble with a friendly group. Exercise your brain and have fun. Tuesday mornings at 9.45am-12pm. Gold coin donation.

Walking groups

Tuesday women’s social walking group

Enjoy a range of walks around the local area and stay afterwards to savour good company and a cuppa at Sundbye House. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing suitable for weather conditions.

Meet at Sundbye House, 100 Farrington Avenue, every Tuesday at 9:30am (summer - 1 October onwards) / 10:00am (winter). $15 subscription per year.

Wednesday wanderers

Gentle walking around the local area. Walks are on average 30 minutes. The group are very friendly and open to all abilities. They have a walk 'n' talk approach! Stay for a cuppa and chat afterwards.

Meet every Wednesday for a 10:30am start from Sundbye House, all year round. Gold coin donation.

Craft group

An informal, friendly group for knitters, crocheters and crafters - all welcome.  Bring your own craftwork.  This group is supported by a experienced tutor.

Wednesdays,1:00pm - 3:00pm. Gold coin donation.

500 card playing group

Come along and play 500 with a friendly bunch. Make friends and have fun. Beginners welcome.

Wednesdays,1:00pm - 3:00pm. $2 per session includes a light afternoon tea.

Explorers club

The Explorers Club is a monthly trip by van or bus (except January and December). Explorers visit places of interest around Canterbury. Ring 03 359 1741 for more information.

Social housie

First Thursday of the month (except January). Come and play a very social housie. 1:00pm - 2.30pm. Gold coin donation.

Community lunch

Come and enjoy a shared lunch of yummy soup in winter and sandwiches in summer time. Everyone welcome. Great company and lots of laughs.

11.30am - 12.30pm every Thursday. Gold coin donation.

Easy chair yoga

Through simple yet very effective asana (movements), pranayama (breathing techniques) and mantra mediation, teacher Mahadevi guides the class to a place of stillness and revitalisation. As this class is popular please contact Mahadevi on 021 105 8582 to register your interest or contact Sundbye House on 03 359 1741.

Book and jigsaw library

Borrow any books, jigsaw puzzles, wasjigs and board games from the library. This is free and available during our open hours. Drop in and view the selection.  

Wishing wardrobe

Check out our wishing wardrobe! Perhaps you will find that new garment that you’ve been dreaming about? Donations of high quality, clean used garments are welcomed.

Bishopdale Menz Shed

What is a Menz Shed? A Menz Shed brings men together in one community space to share their skills, have a laugh, and work on practical tasks individually (personal projects) or as a group (for the Shed or community).

The Bishopdale Menz Shed started life at Sundbye Community House but is now located at 55A Kendal Avenue. It is open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1.30pm. Phone Richard Rendle on 03 359 7275 for more information or visit menzshed.org.nz/bishopdale.
